Ottawa – The City
Nestled on the banks of the majestic Ottawa, Rideau and Gatineau Rivers, Ottawa is one of the most beautiful G8 capitals in the world. Getting to Ottawa – by air
Ottawa’s new state of the art International Airport provides the National Capital Region with a world class gateway with over 120 non-stop flights daily to over 30 destinations, 20 within Canada and 10 cities in the U.S. and London, England. Seasonal charters also exist to Florida, the Caribbean, Mexico and Europe.
Car rental companies are conveniently located in the Parkade, across the street from the passenger terminal building. A limited number of accessible vehicles that can accommodate wheelchairs and are fitted with hand controls are available for rent. Customers are asked to make arrangements at least 48 hours in advance with their car rental agency. A wide variety of services such as shuttles, tour buses, motorcoaches, limousines and taxis can be found on the arrivals level.
Airporter Shuttle provides service between the airport and any downtown Ottawa hotel from early morning to late night at a very reasonable price.

Public Transit
OC Transpo offers public-transit service with rapid transit to downtown Ottawa from VIA Train Station, Ottawa International Airport, and the bus station. Bus fare is exact change only or tickets can be purchased from authorized dealers, some shopping malls, pharmacies, lottery outlets or OC Transpo offices. Regular fare for 2008 is $3.00 or two tickets at $1.00 each. Most routes run from early morning until around 11:00 pm with the exception of express and local routes. Main routes along the Transitway in Ottawa run until about 2:00 am. Visit www.octranspo.com for schedules and route maps.
Public Transit is available from Public transit services with rapid transit to downtown from VIA, Ottawa International Airport, and bus station.
Climate
The average temperature in Ottawa in May is 19 degrees Celsius. Weather during the spring and in-between seasons can be unpredictable. Bring a warm jacket and clothing that can be layered.
Language
The official language of the Conference is English.
